Briggs Chairs Scottish Cancer Conference 2017

News Release from Miles Briggs MSP:

Briggs Chairs Scottish Cancer Conference 2017

The Scottish Cancer Conference has today held it’s twelfth event for a range of organisation and people who are involved with cancer to come together and share information, network, learn and discuss the latest developments in the fight to beat cancer. The event was hosted by Cancer Research UK and the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group on Cancer and held at the Royal College of Surgeons.

The conference started with the Chair’s address from Miles Briggs, welcoming everyone to the event, included a number of lectures, time for networking and finished with prize giving at the end of the day. There were many eminent speakers, from various disciplines, sharing their knowledge and expertise on how to beat cancer. It was striking to learn that 42% of cancers are preventable and that in Scotland only 42% of people diagnosed with cancer survive for five years or more.

Miles Briggs MSP comments:

“It was a privilege for me to chair the Scottish Cancer Conference 2017 and hear from so many dedicated professionals, who are working towards the same goal of beating cancer.”

“I thank Cancer Research UK for hosting the event with the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group on Cancer.”
