Briggs Calls Waiting Times in Lothian for Orthopaedic Treatments Unacceptable

News release from Miles Briggs MSP:

Briggs Calls Waiting Times in Lothian for Orthopaedic Treatments Unacceptable

Today in Parliament Miles Briggs, Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP for Lothian, asked Shona Robinson, Scottish National Party MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport, for an apology to Miles’ constituents in Lothian, for the extended suffering in pain they have had to endure due to the SNP’s decade long mismanagement of the NHS.

Miles brought to attention that constituents in Lothian currently have to wait up to 37 weeks, to even have an initial appointment with a consultant. This is over three times the SNPs targeted 12 weeks from referral policy, for a new outpatient appointment. Shona Robinson did not apologise and refused to accept any responsibility for the SNPs lack of NHS workforce planning.

Miles Briggs comments:

“It’s time the SNP take responsibility for their mismanagement of the NHS over the last 10 years. Their attempts to blame the UK government or opposition parties in the Scottish Parliament is to the detriment of real people across Lothian who are in real pain and this is unacceptable”
