News Release from Miles Briggs:

Briggs and Fellow Conservative MSPs Donate Clothes to Bethany Christian Trust

Scottish Conservative MSPs met with representatives from the Bethany Christian Trust to donate clothing, jackets, hats and gloves for distribution to those struggling with homelessness throughout the winter. Established in 1983, Bethany Christian Trust supports over 7,000 people across Scotland. The charity’s services focus on preventing homelessness as well as alleviating the suffering of people who are homeless. The trust’s Care Shelter provides a hot meal and a safe place to sleep for those with nowhere to go during the coldest months of the year.  The service is run by a small team of staff and relies on around 1,000 volunteers from across the Lothians. They provide venues for people on the streets to sleep in on a nightly rota basis as well as preparing and serving a hot meal.

Miles Briggs comments:

“The Bethany Christian Trust do exceptional work across Scotland to help alleviate homelessness.

“This time of year is especially hard for people who are homeless and I hope that this small gesture will help someone who is in this situation.”

Ruth Longmuir, Care Van & Care Shelter Manager said:

‘We were delighted to be approached by a group of MSPs who were keen to collect items to donate to our winter Care Shelter and Care Van.  These donations of warm clothing will go to people who are at a crisis point in their lives and find themselves without a safe, warm place to go home to at night.
