Title: University of Edinburgh, Academic Centre of Excellence for Cyber Security Research

Motion Text:

That the Parliament welcomes the news that the University of Edinburgh has been named a UK Academic Centre of Excellence for Cyber Security Research by the UK Government; notes that it is the only Scottish University to gain this accolade, and one of only 14 in the UK; understands that it had to meet rigorous criteria that assessed the quantity and quality its cyber security researchers, their output and the impact of their work; considers that this status is a welcome and well-deserved boost for its School of Informatics and the university more widely, and wishes all involved success with what it sees as this critically important work in defending the UK from cyber threats and in increasing cyber-resilience.
