Briggs backs Cats Protection’s new Edinburgh and Lothians Snip and Chip campaign.
Miles Briggs, Lothian MSP, is backing a new campaign launched today by Cats Protection to encourage cat owners in the EH postcode area to neuter and microchip their cat. The Edinburgh and Lothians Snip and Chip campaign will help cat owners on low incomes with the costs of neutering and microchipping. Cat owners who receive a state benefit, are on a low household income, are a full time student or a pensioner, will qualify for help. Under the campaign you can get your pet cat neutered for just £5 and microchipped for an additional £5.
Speaking today Miles said:
“ I welcome the launch of the Edinburgh and Lothians Snip and Chip campaign.
“ Neutering cats prevents the birth of unwanted kittens and with an average female cat able to produce up to six kittens, three times a year, it is really important for owners to consider neutering their pets.
“ I encourage all cat owners living in Lothian who have not yet done so to look at neutering and microchipping their cats.
“ I commends Cats Protection for both initiating this new campaign and for the consistent and important work it undertakes to promote cat welfare in Lothian and across the country.”
