Briggs highlights upcoming safety information event for local deaf young people.

Lothian MSP Miles Briggs is highlighting an upcoming free safety information event for local deaf young people. Organised by the British Deaf Association’s Deaf Roots & Pride Project, the event will take place at The Risk Factory, 20 New Mart Road, Edinburgh on Monday 18th September from 11am-2pm and is open to deaf young people aged 8-20 and is an opportunity for them to learn about personal and community safety.

Speaking today Miles said:

“ I hope many young deaf people across Lothian will consider attending this safety information event.

“ More generally, the Deaf Roots and Pride Project is a positive initiative which is doing good work with local deaf children and young people as they transition from primary to secondary education and from secondary to external environments. Among the services it offers are a mentoring scheme which provides young people with good role models from the deaf community.”
