Record number of Lothian schools obtain a Sports Scotland award
Across Lothian there 33 schools won Gold, 63 schools won Silver and 27 schools won Bronze.
Schools in Almond Valley were among the top performing in Scotland with 12 Golds, 20 Silver and 7 Bronze.
In Scotland 2018 has seen a record 673 schools obtain an award.
Funded by the National Lottery, the sportscotland School Sport Award encourages schools to continuously improve physical education (PE) and school sport opportunities.

94% of Active Schools participants report that they are now motivated to be active in the future, 92% say they are more confident and 91% feel included as a result of participating in Active Schools, (research undertaken by Research Scotland).
Miles Briggs, Scottish Conservative Lothian MSP, said:
“Sports Scotland is an excellent initiative that promotes sport, leadership and team work in schools across Scotland.
“Exercise has enormous physical and mental health benefits and forming good habits whilst at school can really set people up well for later in life.
“A massive congratulations to all Lothian schools who won an award.”
