Briggs Looks for SNP Support for Regeneration of Edinburgh’s Waterfront

News Release from Miles Briggs MSP:

Briggs Looks for SNP Support for Regeneration of Edinburgh’s Waterfront

Miles Briggs today asked Kevin Stewart, Minister for Local Govt. & Housing, about the Scottish Government plans for the regeneration of the Edinburgh’s Waterfront.

Kevin Stewart focused on housing and Edinburgh’s Waterfront being among 7 strategic sites for £50 million to be spent on housing infrastructure.

The supplementary question on the relocation of The National Galleries of Scotland’s Collections Facilities was redirected to Fiona Hyslop.

There will be a summit later this year to revive leading architect Sir Terry Farrell’s idea of a ten mile “boardwalk”.

Kevin Stewart did not commit to attending the summit.

Miles Briggs comments:

“Edinburgh’s Waterfront has unrealised potential and connecting communities from Cramond to Portobello would provide many regeneration, culture and leisure opportunities.

“The summit that I am holding has the aim of taking forward a vision for the future of Edinburgh’s waterfront.

“I will be writing to Fiona Hyslop for clarification on proposals such as the relocation of The National Galleries of Scotland Collections Facility to Granton, a project which could act as a real catalyst to help the regeneration of this section of the Capital’s waterfront.”
