Less than Half of Trains Arrive at Edinburgh Waverley Station on Time

News Release from Miles Briggs MSP:

Less than Half of Trains Arrive at Edinburgh Waverley Station on Time

New figures, from November 2017 to February 2018, reveal that Edinburgh Waverley train station is the 17th worst out of 79 train stations in Scotland for trains arriving on time.

Less than half of trains, only 49.5%, arrived at Waverley train station on time between November 2017 and February 2018.

Edinburgh Waverley station was also the 12 worst out 79 train stations for the percentage of trains arriving or terminating at this station within five minutes of the scheduled time, with 84.5% of trains being within 5 minutes.

Lothian MSP Miles Briggs considers the number of delays to be more than what can be expected as reasonable and the Scottish Conservatives are raising the issue with the Transport Minister Humza Yousaf.

Lothian MSP Miles Briggs comments:

“Edinburgh Waverley train station is vital for Edinburgh residents and for people who commute to Edinburgh.

“It is unacceptable that less than half of trains arrive at Edinburgh Waverley station on time.

“The Transport Minister needs to work with Scot Rail to ensure a smoother service that doesn’t disrupt peoples travel plans.”
