News Release from Miles Briggs MSP:

Local Gluten Free Craft Beer Wins Big Supermarket Contract

Local Brewers, Bellfield Brewery, have won a contract to supply Morrison’s largest stores in England and Wales, with both its beers.

The award-winning beers from Edinburgh’s Bellfield Brewery are now available in 54 Morrison’s stores, from Maidstone to Plymouth and Peckham to Carlisle.

The two gluten free beers, Bohemian Pilsner and Lawless Village IPA have been stocked in the Parliament bar since last month, with help from Lothian MSP Miles Briggs.

Bellfield Brewery specialise in gluten free beers, with both founding members being coeliac, a condition where people are allergic to gluten.

Over the past year, it has picked up two country awards in the World Beer Awards and the IPA has been ranked as among the top ten IPAs in the UK.

The beers are brewed by a process that removes the gluten from the beers, rather than supressing it with chemicals.

Miles Briggs comments:

“This is a superb contract for Bellfield Brewery, whose  exceptional gluten free beers can now be enjoyed by people south of the border.

“I was very pleased to help get these great tasting, locally crafted and gluten frees beers stocked at the Scottish Parliament bar.

“The idea to brew high quality gluten free beers is excellent for people who are coeliac or gluten intolerant.

“I congratulate those at Bellfield Brewery for their continued success with their gluten free beers.”
