Work at Livingston South Train Station Will Be Worth it in the Long Term

News Release from Miles Briggs MSP:

Work at Livingston South Train Station Will Be Worth it in the Long Term

Work to redevelop the Livingston station begins in February and is ongoing until September 2018.

The line between Edinburgh and Glasgow will close for ten days from Thursday 29th March until Monday 9th April, buses will replace trains on the route throughout this period.

This work is required to make the station safe for the operation of an electrified railway and longer trains that will use the route.

Work will be carried out to widen and extend the platforms at Livingston South which can only be done safely and efficiently when trains are not running.

There will also be work done upgrading the whole station and introducing lifts to platform level.

Miles Briggs comments:

“The works being carried out at Livingston South station will be an inconvenience for people in Livingston in the short term, but will be worthwhile in the long term.

“The electrification of the Shotts Line between Edinburgh and Glasgow will allow for new trains with more capacity and faster journey times.

“I have been assured by Network Rail that plans have been put in place to minimise the inconvenience to people who use Livingston South train station.”
